Le projet était pensé pour remplacer le bâtiment de la Chicago Public Library Foundation sise au 20 N Michigan Ave # 520 Chicago, IL 60602-4805, Chicago, IL 60602.

Pour la préservation et un meilleur accès aux documents, le fonctionnement projeté de la bibliothèque reposait sur la micrographie. Des bornes permettent la consultation des documents au Rez-de-Chaussée dans un espace ouvert sur le spectacle de la ville.

L'espace central accueille les bureaux des bibliothécaires et les circulations verticales pour accéder aux lieux de conservation et de stockage. 

This work projected a setting up of the Chicago Library Public Foundation It coincided with a transition period for the preservation of archive documents. Micrography was considered as a privileged means in the field. 

All the document has to be reproduced on microfilm and being available for consultation by users on the main level. The microfilms were being held in the underground whose access was provided behind the black walls protecting the heart of the library.
